Rowlands' non-compressing cycle; Engines running on this cycle have ignition each stroke at TDC (or even a little before). When the ignition timing is set late enough, it will switch cycles into a regular non-compression engine (Lenoir style) & will run as a hybrid of the two cycles in between. This is a gearless, cam less engine & depending on ignition timing it can run either direction. (see video below)
