- The type D engine & castings

Overview:

    The "type D" was designed as a neatly styled vertical engine with a 1-piece cylinder & base casting. It uses an over-hung crank shaft that sits inside of the four tapering legs. The engine is cast from fine-grain ductile iron & weighs about 10 lbs. It stands about 10-1/2".

CASTING KITS & Other Building Options:

    Castings for the RMC "type D" engine can be machined many ways. The cylinder port bosses are lined up & positioned so that it can be made into a vertical "Loyal cycle," a 2-stroke compression engine. See the "type B" engine at http://newrmc.20megsfree.com/index.html or click "here" to see a video of a type D machined into a Loyal cycle engine.

Note: For builders that like to make free-lance, bar-stock engines without castings, there are full dimensions to build from in all machining plans available.

   If you want to design your own engine creation out of the castings, there are 2-D scale drawings available of the engine in "assembled" form, to sketch ideas on.The castings have bosses for 2:1 (four cycle) gearing, governors & timers.  The head is designed so it can be fit with regular "poppet" type engine valves & it can be rotated on the base casting 90 or 180 degrees if wanted. There is a carburetor cast onto the engine but it can be cut off if the builder desires to use his own. The type D castings can basically be built into a number of different engines, many different ways.

*Casting kits will be available at a later date;

*Few, if any, finished & running engines will be available at any time;

*Wooden "RMC" logo show boxes are also available at certain times.
